
A Certified Tree Inspector through the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Scott Schwieder recently concluded more than three decades of service to the City of Rochester. He began his career as a surveyor after earning a degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Minnesota State Technical College SE. In this role, Scott Schwieder assisted the City of Rochester by identifying trees for possible conflicts that may arise during construction projects.
In 1981, Scott Schwieder accepted his first surveying position for the City of Rochester, followed by two years working with McGhie & Betts. In 1986, he returned to serve the City of Rochester and eventually became a Survey Party Chief and Senior Civil Engineering Technician. Over the next 32 years, he became involved in the development of numerous civil engineering projects and was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the mayor. He also received certification through the Pipe Laying Training Course from the Minnesota Utility Contractors Association.
In his leisure time, he enjoys milling lumber and remodeling homes. His other hobbies range from cycling and fishing to rock hunting.
